Turn an everyday t-shirt into something truly special in this hands-on reverse appliqué workshop.

Using simple hand stitching and a bit of creative layering, you’ll learn how to transform a garment you already own into a unique, wearable piece of art. Use botanical stencils to transfer your design onto a t-shirt then layer fabric scraps underneath and practice basic hand-stitching to outline your design. Once the stitching is complete, we will carefully cut away sections of the top layer to reveal the fabric underneath, creating a beautiful, textured effect that feels both modern and timeless.

This beginner-friendly class uses a slow, approachable process that doesn’t require any prior sewing experience. It’s also a wonderful introduction to mending and upcycling—giving new life to garments in a creative and meaningful way.

All sewing materials will be provided. T-shirts are not provided. We recommend bringing something you already own, whether it’s well-loved or simply in need of a little refresh!

By the end of the workshop, you’ll leave with a finished (or nearly finished) piece and the skills to continue exploring this technique at home. More importantly, you’ll experience the simple joy of working with your hands and creating something personal, beautiful, and connected to nature.
