perfect guide – Dr. Millman is a noted scholar of Arctic fungi and
ethnomycology, with a deep expertise in folklore. Over the course of more than
30 trips to the Arctic and Subarctic, he has documented the vital intersection
of mushroom culture and indigenous tradition. Author of 23 published books,
including the droll and exhaustive Fascinating
Fungi of New England—a richly illustrated account of the region's mycology
and a must for any eager naturalist—his work is a testament to decades of
wide-ranging travel and research.
This session
is an excellent precursor for the following day's walk, but is not required.
