Build your own mini bog with members of the New England Carnivorous Plant Society (NECPS). Dave Sackett will guide you through how to plant and maintain a beautiful mini bog full of carnivorous plants to take home with you and coach you on how to keep them happy. You will also learn about carnivorous plant dormancy and the different ways to wake these plants up in the spring. A plastic mini bog, potting media of peat moss and silica sand, rainwater, sphagnum moss, and several different carnivorous plants will be provided. You will also receive a care sheet.

Instructor: Dave Sackett

 

Dave Sackett is a founding member of the NECPS. He is the former Treasurer and current President of the NECPS. He has 22 years of experience growing carnivorous plants and leads seminars on how to successfully grow and propagate these plants. He specializes in cool growing carnivorous plants like highland tropical pitcher plants (Nepenthes) from Southeast Asia and sun pitcher plants (Heliamphora) from the tabletop mountains in South America. In addition to carnivorous plants, he grows orchids and ant plants.
