Discover the fascinating lives of butterflies during
this special storytime event with author Melissa Stewart and illustrator
Sarah S. Brannen. Through the beautifully crafted book Monarch
and Mourning Cloak: A Butterfly Journal, children and families will learn
about butterfly life cycles, migration, and habitats, and hear stories
about the creation of the book. Stunning illustrations and poems, in the
form of a nature journal, will spark curiosity about butterflies and
the natural world. After the reading, Melissa and Sarah will autograph
books outside the Garden Shop from 11:30AM-12PM.
Ticket Price: $0 Members/Non-members with a general admission ticket on the same day as Storytime, but pre-registration is required. To register follow the instructions below or call 508-869-6111 for assistance.
Author Bio: Melissa Stewart has written more than 200 books about science and
nature for children. Her work has been translated into more than a dozen
languages and garnered such awards as the Sibert Honor, two Green Earth Book
Awards, and four ALA Notables. Melissa is a popular presenter at schools and
libraries, and her highly regarded website, www.melissa-stewart.com, features a rich array of nonfiction reading and writing resources.
Author Bio: Sarah S. Brannen is an award-winning author and illustrator of more
than two dozen books for children. She is the illustrator of the Robert F.
Sibert Honor book Summertime
Sleepers: Animals that Estivate, written by
Melissa Stewart, as well as the recent Monarch and Mourning Cloak: A
Butterfly Journal. She has also written several fiction picture books,
including Uncle Bobby's Wedding and Lolly on the Ice. Visit her
