Meet Your Instructor: Scott Lehto


Scott Lehto is a Senior Scientist at Comprehensive Environmental Inc. and a competitive grower from Fitchburg, Massachusetts. With a focus on giant pumpkins, squash, tomatoes, and sunflowers, Scott combines his passion for soil science with hands-on expertise in fertility management and microbiology to excel in competitive growing. His dedication to optimizing soil and growing practices has made him a leading figure in New England’s competitive gardening scene.


In 2024, Scott’s son Alistair won the Youth Division at the Ridgefield, NH, weigh-off with an impressive 729-pound pumpkin, while Scott earned a blue ribbon for his personal best—a 1,156-pound pumpkin. Scott enjoys sharing his knowledge and inspiring others to explore the fascinating intersection of soil science and agriculture.
