Discover the art of linocut printmaking in this engaging and beginner-friendly workshop! Set in a relaxed, creative environment, you'll learn the fundamentals of this traditional technique, from selecting and using the carving tools to transferring and carving your own designs onto linoleum blocks. You will be guided step by step, ensuring you feel confident as you create your own intricate patterns and festive images.

Once your designs are complete, you'll experiment with inking and printing techniques to bring your creations to life. The final products will be your very own hand-printed holiday cards and wrapping paper—perfect for adding a personal, artistic touch to your gifts this season. Whether you’re completely new to printmaking or looking to enhance your skills, this workshop offers a fun and fulfilling way to craft something meaningful and beautiful for the holidays.

All materials, including linoleum blocks, carving tools, ink are available to borrow. You’ll leave with two carved blocks, a set of cards and wrapping paper, along with the skills to continue printmaking at home. No previous experience is necessary—just bring your creativity!


All materials are provided and no experience is needed to take this fun holiday class.


Meet Your Instructor: 



Alyson Prokop (she/her/hers), Manager of Adult Education


Alyson Prokop joins NEBG as the Manager of Adult Education after a decade at Royal Botanical Gardens Canada, where she worked as a Horticulturist and educator. There, she led the creation and management of a 1.34-acre Teaching and Community Food Gardens and over 25+ local community gardens. Her efforts led to the cultivation of diverse crops and the production of over 20,000 lbs of vegetables for local food banks and meal programmes. Alyson holds a BSc (Hons) in Plant Biology and MSc in Plant Pathology from the University of Guelph, making her a formally trained botanist with a lifelong passion for gardening and collection's management. Before moving to Worcester, Alyson owned a small cut flower market garden with 15 Buckfast beehives. At NEBG, Alyson is excited to expand the garden and horticulture programmes whilst focusing on garden sustainability, diversifying programme offerings, expanding the NEBG Apiary, and ensuring garden accessibility for all.

  • Add Students: If you have not already done so, you will need to scroll to the bottom of the page and add Attendees. You will need to add yourself and anyone else you wish to register with. If you have already done this, the Attendees will be listed below and simply check the box next to the desired attendees.
