Meet Your Instructors: Lucy Smith & Nathan Fournier, Reimagined Roots

Lucy Smith, VP of Sales and Design, Reimagined Roots

With a BA in Economics and Holocaust and Genocide Studies, Lucy brings a unique systems-thinking lens to ecological design. Her passion for food sovereignty and ecosystem restoration has lead her to study permaculture in Thailand, Hawaii, and Costa Rica. Lucy earned her Permaculture Design Certificate at Finca Tierra and has designed landscapes along the East Coast that blends biodiversity, beauty, and function. At Reimagined Roots, she leads with a focus on reconnecting people to indigenous agricultural wisdom and building resilient plant communities.

Nate Fournier, Founder and CEO, Reimagined Roots

Nate's journey from engineering and construction to ecological landscaping began in 2014 after completing his first Permaculture Design Course with Geoff Lawton. With three PDCs under his belt and a General Contractor's license, Nate has cultivated a deep understanding of how to integrate food production, natural habitat, and regenerative design into vibrant outdoor spaces. Since founding Reimagined Roots in 2020, he has led the charge in creating immersive, sustainable landscapes that foster harmony between people and the land.
