Gardening success isn’t about doing more, it’s about doing the right things at the right time. This three-part, in-person workshop series is designed for home gardeners who want their gardens to be productive, healthy, and manageable from spring through fall.

Rather than reacting to problems as they arise, participants learn how to make smart seasonal decisions that support plant health, reduce stress, and build momentum through the growing season. Each session aligns with a key phase of the gardening year—spring planning and setup, summer growth and maintenance, and fall transition and preparation—helping gardeners understand what matters most now, and what can wait. Ecological and regenerative principles are woven throughout in a practical, accessible way, supporting gardens that thrive in New England’s variable climate. The goal is not perfection. It’s confidence, clarity, and a garden that works with the season, not against it.

Sign up for 1 or all 3 in this seasonal series.

Spring energy often leads to rushed planting and scattered effort. But the most productive gardens begin with observation, planning, and realistic expectations. Early decisions around layout, soil preparation, and plant selection determine how much work and how much harvest follows. This session focuses on reading the garden in spring and setting up systems that make the rest of the season easier.

Summer reveals the results of spring choices. Rapid growth, heat, pests, and weeds can push gardeners into constant reaction mode. This session teaches how to support strong growth while reducing unnecessary work and stress. The focus is on pacing, observation, and practical strategies that keep gardens productive through the most demanding months.

Fall is often overlooked, yet it’s one of the most important seasons for future productivity. How a garden is managed at the end of the season affects soil health, pest pressure, and spring readiness. This session focuses on thoughtful transition, closing the season well while preparing the garden for rest and renewal.

About the Speaker – Lucy Smith & Nate Fournier, Reimagined Roots

Lucy Smith - With a BA in Economics and Holocaust and Genocide Studies, Lucy's passion for food sovereignty and ecological restoration led her to study permaculture across Thailand, Hawaii, and Costa Rica. Her work focuses on reconnecting people with indigenous agricultural wisdom and fostering resilient plant communities.

After earning her Permaculture Design Certificate at Finca Tierra in Costa Rica, Lucy began designing landscapes along the East Coast, specializing in landscapes that blend biodiversity, beauty, and functionality. She later partnered with Nate to bring ecologically rich, immersive gardens to the Reimagined Roots community in Central MA.

Nate Fournier - With a strong foundation in engineering, design, and construction, Nate discovered his calling in ecological landscapes design after taking his first Permaculture Design Courses (PDC) with Geoff Lawton in 2014. His passion lies in creating dynamic landscapes that serve as thriving ecosystems - providing food, habitat, and natural beauty while fostering harmony between people and land.

Nate has since completed three PDCs, earned his General Contractor's license, and studied regenerative agriculture internationally. In 2020, he launched Reimagined Roots, a landscaping firm dedicated to building vibrant, sustainable landscapes that connect communities with the natural world.
